We have been battling with head lice this year. I have tried the medicated lice removal shampoos, like Nix. I have tried mayonaise, peanut butter, tea tree oil, vinegar, etc. They go away but come back. I always am treating them. This time I cant get rid of them. I am thinking I am going go have to home school my kids. I just cant get rid of them. I vaccuum daily, wash and dry blankets daily, all stuffed animals are bagged and put away for 2 weeks at a time. Pillows are dried in the dryer for 20 minutes. I have lysoled my house. I have bought new combs. Dont ever use the same one more than once. I even have taken the kids to the doctor. I have treated my whole family over and over. I have even called the Health Dept. to see if their nurse would come out and help me see what I may be missing. I have cleaned the couch and chairs daily with the lice spray. Even the seat in our car. Help??? Any advice is appreciated? Do you know of anyone who has had this same problem? I am trying to get each nit out, but it is so difficult to see them at times. I have even tried highlighting my kids hair thinking that might help. It didnt. How to get rid of head lice? I have tried Nix, and many lice removal medicated shampoos. Nothing works?
Shave the head.
Kerosene. How to get rid of head lice? I have tried Nix, and many lice removal medicated shampoos. Nothing works?
I have two things for you to use, first to get rid of them you have to use a dog shampoo... yeah I know it works.
Next.... to keep them from coming back you have to use Mane %26amp; Tail its a shampoo that has real coconut extract, it helps keeping them from coming back. Or look for shampoo with coconut extract....
I find Lavender essential oil or lavender vinegar is a good repellent; Once you've clean everything spray it around. My sister had some lice last year and they kept coming back so after treating her, I used to spray her bed and also her hair.
i despise nits! any chickens around? you can get lice from them. you seem to be doing all the right things - bagging up toys so the mongrels cant breathe.
it can drive kids nuts as well as you.
any of your kid's friends or yours got nits? they love clean hair.
this lady kept her kids home from school because the school didnt want to admit it was their problem. this school isnt allowed to touch the kids whereas this other school asked me if it was ok for them to check for nits - i said ooh yes!
good luck %26amp; i hope you get rid of the nasty little blighters once %26amp; for all
I used to suffer with head lice because a girl in my maths class had them. I kept getting them back but Full Marks head lice lotion works because it got rid of mine and find out who keeps giving them to you and get them sorted, the girl in my maths class never did anything about it but I moved seats in the class. I also got my hair cut and since then i haven't had any problems and my hair looked really nice short. Good luck, hopefully you get rid of the evil little things!! :(
You need to buy a nitty gritty comb for 拢10
and Full Marks for 拢10
put half the bottle of full marks on your head (dry)
and leave it on for 10 mins then use the nitty gritty comb and it will get rid of ALL the eggs! and then shampoo your hair twice to get rid of the grease from the full marks and then blow dry your hair and straighten it to get heat on it to burn anything that may be still living then use the Electric Nit Comb from Boots for 拢20 and it will shock the nits in your hair so the die instaly this comb will buzz when ever it goes over a nit :)
I can totally relate, and feel the frustration. It took me a whole year to de-lice and now I don't even try on used clothes for fear of another round. Hairspray really helped, as well as gel, but that is just your head, the lice can live on any surface, so I suggest you coat your skin after every bath or shower with vaseline and or lotion, spray your hair, and know that you have to switch the lice killer, since they adapt. Keep up the cleanliness, and wash with bleach or boiling temp. water to kill all bugs (including bedbugs) you might want to buy mattress covers because they can live there as well. Cold water does not kill bedbugs and lice eggs--it has to be scalding with a measure of bleach. All the hair brushes, combs and barrettes need to be discenfected after use, you can put a little vinigar or listerine with water in a glass for immersion when not in use.
The lice spray is toxic and can create absorption through the human skin. Switch to vinegar and water, spray often, and vaccum up the little bugs and eggs you can't see. I suggest you use old sheets on the couch and chairs so they can be more easily cleaned. The hairspray, conditioner and vaseline are great remedies.
Well, As A victim of headlice i lost my nits using this thing which kills them in 10 mins... its for children its 10 minute head lice removal which comes with a nit comb and i got it from boots so check there they defenitly have it. I Remembered the name its called : Full Marks i have left a link for how it looks ( the pic ) and that time igot it costed 10 pounds . it worked in 2 goes... once then 2 weeks after another and i lost them al yay

I have tried everything for head lice nothing seems to work, medicated shampoos.. vinegar, ??
any other suggesstions besided mayonnaise..I have tried everything for head lice nothing seems to work, medicated shampoos.. vinegar, ??
You must wash all bedding daily in hot water. You also must nit pick a few times a day. Be sure to treat all your carpets and furniture including your car with spray you may purchase in any drug store or grocery store. Do not wear clothes a second time without washing. After vacuuming dispose or clean out the vacuum bag right away. As long as you are diligent you should have it under control in about a week. Be sure to keep checking for nits even weeks after you feel they are gone.I have tried everything for head lice nothing seems to work, medicated shampoos.. vinegar, ??
having head lice really stinks, i had it for the first time last summer.medications worked ok for me, but not well enough. what really helped is the mayonaise! i know it sounds really gross - and im not gonna lie, it is really gross - but i was cured from lice the next day! some people put rosemary oil in their hair, but i've hears the smell is really bad and to strong.if you decide to do the mayonaise, here are some tips: some people say you should have it on for 8 hours while you sleep, but i dont see how any one could sleep with that, especially without your shower cap falling off. (you have to put a shower cap over it.) although it was really nasty in the morning, i reccomend that. also, wear a towel around your neck! i never knew there was that much oil in mayonaise! one last tip, you shouldnt shave your head, just cut off a couple of the damadged inches at the bottom and it really helps! nit picking helps, but it takes a lot of patience. dont lean on anything and wash everything you touch. you should check for lice at least once evry week the couple of weeks after you feel better, you might have the eggs still in your hair, and they can hatch soon. having someone else other then whoever has been checking you check you once, really helps.good luck!windows media player

Tenia Versicolor & Medicated Shampoos?
For Tenia Versicolor, is there any great difference between using Head %26amp; Shoulders Intensive and Selsun Blue?
People always say to use Selsun Blue, but they both have 1% Selenium Sulfide so I don't see the dif.
Either way the H%26amp;S hasn't helped so perhaps it's actually vitiligo, gah! But would be good to know whether it's worth giving Selsun Blue a go... thanksTenia Versicolor %26amp; Medicated Shampoos?
For tinea versicolor, the selenium sulfide prescribed is usually 2.5%, not 1% like what is in Selsun Blue and Head %26amp; Shoulders. The 2.5% variation is not available in the U.S. over-the-counter, so it's usually prescribed by a medical provider. I think Selsun Blue is thought to be ';preferred'; because it performed better than H%26amp;S when treating dandruff, not TV.
At any rate 70-80% of tinea versicolor is not able to be treated by topical shampoos. I don't know of any direct comparisons between selenium 1% and 2.5%, but I do know that doctors often tell patients to try the over-the-counter 1% variety if it's a mild case. Then if that doesn't work, we'll prescribe either the 2.5% cream or antifungal pills.
In my opinion, there's no reason you shouldn't give the Selsun Blue a try, however, it's very possible you'll have similar results. It might be worth trying that before getting yourself to a doctor to get the 2.5% (and a firm diagnosis?). Maybe at that time you could consider oral antifungal therapy (much more effective, faster, more convenient, but with possible side effects).

Medicated shampoos?
Does anyone ever use medicated shampoos and notice a great deal of hair comes out after shampooing? I don't know if its normal, i could be allergic to an ingredient. But i did the left side of my scalp yesterday and about 70 hairs came out from that one part?Medicated shampoos?
you may be allergic to it, i suggest you stop using it...
or you could ask your doctor for advice on the medicated shampoo your using and maybe he/she could give you a better product thats compatible with your scalpMedicated shampoos?
i am a hairstylist so i know that you can not lose hair from a shampoo, it has to be something else but losing 70 to 100 hairs a day is perfectly normal so i wouldnt stress over it , the only way you would be able to tell if you had an allergic raction from the shampoo is itching or burning ok? good luck
Be VERY carefull. I suggest speaking to a doctor or consult your local chemist and asking for some advice.
Best to keep off the product also. Avoid using it until you speak to a trained medical advisor.
It's possible that you could be allergic to something in the shampoo.. You should go see a dermatologist to see if they can help you.. My husbands scalp gets so dry that it bleeds. The only thing that helped him was going to the dr. and getting a prescription for a shampoo with a high tar level.. It stinks really really bad but it worked great for him.

I have 8 yr old Ger Shep that scratches & bites lots. No fleas. Flea and medicated shampoos no work. Help?
Probably a food allergy. Most probably corn or gluten. Try him first on a corn free food for a bag. If that doesn't help then try gluten free. If these do not help you might have to switch to one made from duck or some other non standard meat like lamb or fish or venison.I have 8 yr old Ger Shep that scratches %26amp; bites lots. No fleas. Flea and medicated shampoos no work. Help?
You 'll need to go to the vet to be sure. Could be a skin condition. Could be an allergic reaction to her food or something in her environment. Could be an anxiety behavior. You'll need to have her checked out and, as she's getting older, you may have to change her diet somewhat. Your vet is the best authority to help you with this.
Keep her healthy and good luck.I have 8 yr old Ger Shep that scratches %26amp; bites lots. No fleas. Flea and medicated shampoos no work. Help?

Maybe it's the food that he is eating. try changing his food.
Selamectin treatment.

HELP!! very flaky scalp, cant use medicated shampoos, what can I try?
Around my hair line, and scalp in general I have patches which flake and my scalp has a general scaly, scabbed feeling. I cant use medicated shampoos as I colour my hair and they strip the colour out really quickly. What can I use to relieve my scalp and flush the flakes out!!??HELP!! very flaky scalp, cant use medicated shampoos, what can I try?
Dandruff is not from dry scalp but from oily scalp... Have you recently changed your hair washing regimen? Did you used to wash daily?
Try washing daily using a light shampoo that won't build up...Don't ever use a 2 in 1 (shampoo plus conditioner) as these are very heavy %26amp; produce build up on hair.
Also, don't pick at the ';scaly's'; you'll damage your scalp more. You should see it clear up in about 2-3 days.HELP!! very flaky scalp, cant use medicated shampoos, what can I try?
Go to a local pharmacy, at any walgreens, hooks, osco ect. and explain the problem, as I'm sure they would recommend an over the counter shampoo that is more of an oil-based moisturizing type, hope this helps you!
lakes is a form of dry skin........put oil regularly not nly flakes will disappear but ur hair will become silky too.
Use a tree tea shampoo. Doesn't strip the color. Paul Mitchell makes one. At least it won't strip it if you are using a permanent color and not the temporary ones.
By coloring your hair alot, it will cause your hair and your scalp to become dry like that. when you wash your hair, wash it twice and maybe even take a bristle brush and scrape all the loose dry skin off. Not harshly though. and when you use a hair conditioner, use one that will coat the hair and then rub it in well into your scalp also to help to put back some of the natural oils in your hair. Also, you could do an Vit. E. oil treatment to your hair by brushing oil into the hair saturating it well on the scalp and the ends of your hair. leave on and put a plastic back over all your hair and then blow dry for half an hour. then wash your hair out and use conditoner again. This will help to get your scalp to heal and to not dry out so bad.
Tar Shampoo.
Smells bad in some cases but it will clear that right up. You don't have dandruff anyway.
which do you want more? a healthy scalp or dyed hair? pick one. use the shampoo. don't wash your hair every day. use a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner.
there is a medicated shampoo for color treated hair. it is called dermarest. i use it now because i have had a color treatment and i had dry scalp. this works and it solves your problem. i dont
know if they make it, but look for t-gel in color treated hair safe form because that is the best shampoo you can use
